Orlando SentinelStillwater professionals provided technical support to consent order negotiations with the FDEP in efforts to design a cost-effective and protective groundwater cleanup remedy for dissolved trichloroethene (TCE) contamination in a downtown urban setting. A groundwater flow model of the site was constructed and used to design the recovery well network; specifically, to determine the location and pumping rate for each recovery well. Utilizing the results of the groundwater flow model, the specifications for the groundwater recovery system, the onsite treatment system, and the disposal system were designed. Stillwater professionals were responsible for performing field test to verify the design configuration of well spacing, pumping rate, and number of recovery wells necessary to capture the plumes and also provided construction oversight during remedial system installation.
